The East Walker River If your fetish is catching large trout in a river, try the East Walker. Like most tailwater's in America, large fish are usually attributed. This river consist's of both rainbow and brown trout with huge carp and whitefish also present. Decent regulations and incredible amounts of baitfish/aquatic insects are to blame for its abundance of fish. Since the East Walker flows through both California and Nevada year round fishing is possible downstream from the Nevada border. Winter fishing can be very productive when the weather cooperates, but snow should be expected on some days. If your planning on fishing the East Walker River during the winter youll be in for a surprise, fishing Blue Winged Olives, and midges on the surface can be very productive. Water flows throughout the season and especially during the
winter play a major role in the wether the fishing is good or bad on any giving day.
Flows between 70cfs and 200cfs seem to be the most productive. During the
winter calling me to see if the river is frozen over is advised. During the summer months having a large variety of nymphs, streamers and dries will pay off. If you would like a few of my recomendations for this river refer to the Hatch Chart. If you would like to book a guide for the day I would be more than happy to show you the area, and put you on some big fish as well.
